American Income Life: Accidental Benefits

Accidental benefits include benefits for travelling via a common carrier and/or for any cause of death such as a pedestrian or accident at workplace. ICU, overnight hospital benefits and benefits to get the injury looked at are part of hospital benefits…covered by the hour power philosophy.

***

Relevant Background: Along with the freedom of choice allocation, American Income life agents also request permission to allocate hourly wages each week (as part of the hour-power philosophy) for accidental benefits and pay cheque protection. Policyholders may also allocate their wages to accidental and pay cheque protection benefits via allocating a certain % of their income (Need Analysis Approach), monthly allocations, and dollar a day allocations. To activate these benefits, no  activation is required..as these benefits are part of a larger package such as through a union or employer. The hour power philosophy provides these benefits 24/7 (they are active around the clock). If a covered event happens, the policyholder or the beneficiary would simply need to file a claim (along with documents and receipts/invoices relevant to hospital bills in some cases).

The 1,964 fatalities in 2023 marked the highest count in the past 10 years, the 9,261 serious injuries marked the highest count in the last 5 years, while the total injuries were around the average for the past 5 years. Compared to 20 years ago, fatalities have decreased by 28%, serious injuries have decreased by 41%, and total injuries are down 42%.
